If you're looking for
the best performing, highest quality clutches available, then Clutch Masters is
what you have been looking for.
What
makes Clutch Masters different? It starts with a 20-thousandths stainless steel
backing on the backside of the friction material. This helps to transfer heat
from the lining to minimize "Clutch fade" and ensure consistent
performance.
From
there, they use a modified fulcrum point to increase pressure on the disc but
without a substantial increase in pedal pressure as seen with other clutch
brands. This is also important in protecting against the destruction of the
crankshaft from excessive pressure on the thrust bearing which can happen when
the pedal pressure is excessive. Some Extreme duty clutches can push the
crankshaft a few thousandths of an inch forward when the clutch is depressed.
This is not good at 8000 RPM.
Lastly, the pressure plate utilizes a ductile iron casting which gives a much
higher burst strength than other "grey-iron" castings. This gives you the peace
of mind that the clutch won't be riding in the seat with you under high rpm use.
All complete clutch
kits include Pressure plate, Clutch disc, Release bearing, Pilot bearing (if
applicable), and alignment tool. Clutch reference chart is as
follows:
| First 2 digits indicate the pressure plate clamping force | |
| 00 | Stock (O.E. Plate) |
| HD | 40-65% Increase |
| DD | 2X O.E. (extreme) |
| Second 2 digits indicate the disc | |
| 00 | Stock (O.E. Disc) |
| C | Sintered Bronze/organic |
| CI | Sintered Iron |
| CB | Full Metal |
| KV | Kevlar |
| CKV | Sintered Bronze/Kevlar |
| TZ | Trapezoid cut Kevlar |

Designed to provide extended life and superior holding for cars with moderate power adders and/or more "enthusiastic" driving. Normally provides a 40-65% increase in holding over stock.

| MR2 88-89 1.6 Supercharged | 16-075-HD00 | $331.25 |

This is a carbon-kevlar unit which provides the smoothest engagement of all Clutch Master Clutches. The torque capacity of this unit is similar to Stage 1 but there is a significant increase in life expectancy particularly when using a supercharger or small NOS applications.

| MR2 88-89 1.6 Supercharged | 16-075-HDKV | $469.39 |

This combination is designed for the more serious driver. The HDC Disc with a metallic surface on the pressure plate side and an organic material on the flywheel side provides a quick snap in engagement. Keep in mind that when a decision is made to go with a metallic disc, Life expectancy is immediately sacrificed. The HDTZ combination is the newest development. This combination provides more holding power slightly higher than HDC but also provides the life expectancy and smooth engagement of Stage 2.

| MR2 88-89 1.6 supercharged | 16-075-HDTZ | $469.39 |

This combination is still relatively civilized with a sprung hub. Expect minor chatter at low RPM and immediate engagement when power is applied. This combination is good for the weekend road racer that still needs to drive the car on the street.

Stage 5 (HDB4, DDCI, and Twin Disc)

You have now seriously crossed the line. Stage 5 hits hard ! and immediately ! The HDB4 is designed for immediate hard engagement. This clutch may be driven on the street with extreme caution. The DDCI is custom designed for drag racing where you wish to slip the clutch or modulate the engagement. The hotter it gets, the more it sticks. This material is not approved for street use and should be removed and inspected every 15 to 20 passes.

Lightweight Flywheels

All flywheels are light-weight aluminum models machined from T6-6160 Aluminum. They incorporate a replaceable steel contact surface and a steel outer ring gear for smooth starter engagement. All mounting hardware is Grade-8. The weights have been carefully chosen to maximize performance while maintaining maximum streetability.
